Stu Rifas was born and raised in Bronx, New York. He began performing at age 5, with his father, a professional Magician.
At age 6, he performed magic on national TV - on the Joe Franklin show. He performed with his father and traveled throughout the country, off-and-on, until his father's passing in 1981.
In Elementary School, Stu played clarinet in the school band. But his musical passion was for the drums. He taught himself to play drums playing to albums and cassettes that he blasted through a Peavey PA system.
In Junior High School, Stu played in local bands. His various bands played many genres of music from Southern Rock to Heavy Metal to "Guitar Virtuoso" music, the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Johnson, and Steve Vai.
While in New York, Stu was involved with many musical endeavors, including teaching drums to marching bands, playing in jazz groups at local Nursing Homes and Hospitals, and playing for productions of Godspell and Grease.
In 2002, Stu moved to Bismarck, ND, where he lives with his wife, son, and stepson. He also has two older boys and another stepson. Since moving to North Dakota, he has played numerous Sunday's at his Church, where he's met many excellent musicians. He has also played with two different groups at Bluesfest West.
In 2006, he joined EZ Street. Although they have gone through some personnel changes, he feels that they've come out stronger each time and he is certain that they are now the best that they've ever been!
